The Training Programme

The Trust includes a Teaching Hospital with over 900 beds covering the full range of clinical specialities. Continuing clinical, technical and educational developments include:
Our Cancer Centre
One of the largest Cardiac Centres in the UK
The development of the Respiratory centre is progressing towards a specialist Cystic Fibrosis centre.
We have electronic discharge which is important for medicines reconciliation.
We also have close links with The School of Pharmacy at Wolverhampton.
This makes The Royal Wolverhampton Trust is a real centre of excellence in this thriving community. We aim to give our preregistration pharmacists a broad training in all aspects of hospital pharmacy and a recent quality assurance monitoring visit for the West Midlands NHS training bases gave us a very favourable report. The pre-registration pharmacist will work in each section of the Trust which includes working with pharmacists in primary care and visiting hospitals on other sites including Cannock and West Park. The teaching program includes aceptics, goods receipt and purchasing, medical, surgical, mental health, medicines information amongst others.
Completion of an audit project and regional study days are essential elements of the training year. A formal system for cross section placements is also in operation.
